Spring is upon us in the northern hemisphere, mother nature is reawakening...
In contemplating 'what it is to be human' we invite you to explore our relation with nature, to seek inspiration from our environment: the buds, the blooms and birdsong. To share this experience with fellow humans as we walk and talk or listen and absorb the presence of other life forms. Join us on Thursday 15th April at 5:30pm GMT (18:30 CEST) somewhere outdoors - connected to the zoom call on your phone, (preferably hands-free with headphones) or stay inside, allowing others to be your eyes and ears 'on the ground' and let your senses to do the rest. Everyone that joins, we look forward to you sharing your experiences of walking with 'what is it to be human' in the outdoors either through your voice, by video, or both... or just through the sounds of where you are. If you are not able to join us on the day, have a look at our Walk & Talk offering in Asynchronous offerings for some inspiration to do it on your own or with other humans. Hope to see you out walking!

This is an invitation from a friend of 'What is it to be human?' into a human experience: What if everyone had an ‘idea worth sharing’ but not everyone felt invited to share it? What if we could all be enriched by the golden essence in the hearts and minds of our neighbour, a colleague, our sibling, a stranger, or our friend? Recent times and events have been so isolating for many people - striking at the heart & self-esteem of those feeling lost connections with others and experiences that had previously brought much meaning to their lives. If you’ve felt any disconnection or isolation - this invitation may be very welcome:
Are you prepared to talk about love? Join together for an unscripted open conversation to explore one of our most lauded and diversely interpreted of characteristics: LOVE ♡
Perhaps we’ll open with a question or two: What is love? What’s love got to do with it? Perhaps something else will emerge? One hope is that love will be present – as we continue to explore: What is it to be human? ♡ Let's discover on the day... on Wednesday 17th February 5.30-7pm UK time If you’d like to join – sign up here: ♡ What might happen if you open your heart? What if…
We were aware of the beauty of our own presence and humanness? We carry our humanness within, walking this Earth, sometimes showing or not showing what we carry within us. Our presence appears – knowingly or unknowingly – to others. Our humanness – conscious or unconsciously – present. What if… We gifted our humanness to others? Gifting anything is not so much about the gift itself, much more about the intention, the care, the consideration and the love with which it is given. It is also about an interaction – the experience of giving and receiving, uncovering what is hidden, being surprised – and through this, getting to know the other human and ourselves in them. What if... We try to give and receive the gift of humanness? Well that’s exactly what we are proposing. Giving and receiving humanness… Taking some time to discover this gift. Exploring our own and others humanness. Opening up the possibility of how this gift could enliven and enrich ourselves and others. Is this something you’d like to experience? If you can hear a yes inside you... send that yes to us. Then what?... We will collect your yes – each and every yes – then connect you together with one or two other humans that carry the same yes within them. Alongside this, there will be an invitation – into an experience of exploring humanness... – and maybe the giving and receiving of gifts : ) If you are interested, send your yes to [email protected] before the 6th December Invitations will be sent via email by the 8th December What happens then, will be up to you…

How does silence sound?
when witnessed together with other humans... with humans you don’t (or do) know... What happens inside you? Think of it as a collective meditation, where your mantra is the group – humans being together in the sound of silence. Profound or playful?... Beauty or beast?... Come find out in another inquiry into: what is it to be human? If this stimulates your senses – of wonder or play or something else in your human – join using the Instructions below. Hopeful of seeing you there – in the silence… [Click on "Read More" below to get all the INSTRUCTIONS] Tuesday 13 October - 17:30-19:09 CEST - sign up ![]() " You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one " Continuing our wandering & wondering - within: What is it to be human?
Sapiens author, Yuri Noah Harari, talks about: Why our imagination makes us human. So we invite you to IMAGINE... Imagination may be one of the most powerful tools we have to influence the future of humanity and create a better world for us all to live in. That's not to say our imagination will get it 'right' but it's a worthy starting point as humans - to open up our potential to be. So we would like to open a space for us to imagine - be playful, be hopeful and to explore. Our starting point will be: What if?... Let's see where it can take us... If you would like to join to IMAGINE... email us. Looking forward to be together there. In the meantime - some inspirational words from Ken Robinson (RIP) in The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything “As soon as we have the power to release our minds from the immediate here and now, in a sense we are free. We are free to revisit the past, free to re-frame the present, and free to anticipate a whole range of possible futures. Imagination is the foundation of everything that is uniquely and distinctively human" ![]() An invitation to just start... Thursday July 30th at 19.00-21.00 (CEST) with Goran Kelecic and Chris Rekatas Where does our soul want to go?... Often, we know. Too often we know what our soul is yearning for, but we do not follow it. We just wait. Days, months, years... And sometimes, we never start. We wait – we don’t start – for reasons we can explain and reasons that we cannot explain to ourselves. Whatever the reason, the consequences are the same. Alternatively, we just start… turn from the path we walk and step on the bridge that leads to the UNKNOWN and make the first step. We make a step – we just start – for reasons we can explain and reasons that we cannot explain to ourselves. Whatever the reason, the consequences are the same. Let us have a meaningful present conversation on the human experience of just starting. The immense act of surrendering to the small little first step, without thinking of the next one.... Let's just start sharing our presence and experiences, give space to others and ourselves and collectively explore the human experience of just starting... and see what emerges... Contact us here if you’d like to sign up, we will send you the Zoom invitation a day before the event. Thursday July 30th at 19.00-21.00 (CEST) An invitation for a ‘deeper dive’ into the question: What is it to be human?…Thursday 18 June at 19.00-20.30 (CEST) - with Delfino Corti, Annette Birkholz & Christopher Rekatas “What differentiates people from all other forms of life… is that we’re not only here, but that we know that we’re here” - Sheldon Solomon In a world where we are ‘required’ to wear many different masks for many different occasions in a growing array of contexts… it has become increasingly challenging just to ‘be’ (present) with ourselves and with each other – and have awareness of who we really are underneath all these layers. The invitation of this offering is to be present: Just to be you – however you are in this moment – and to endeavour to shed the layers of expectation you may have on yourself or feel from others… to let go and just be! We will hold a space for three levels of presence to be present:
We would love for you to join us to explore within the presence of other humans and just be present. We will limit the numbers on this particular offering to allow for an intimate and ‘safe’ space to be created between those present. Contact us here if you’d like to sign up You are encouraged to bring curiosity, courageousness, openness, a willingness to explore and share, and also to let go of expectations – towards being in and becoming into your fullest presence. “We know, if only vaguely and inchoately, that our finest and most memorable experiences may never,
and indeed, ultimately will never, happen again. That is why we cherish them so.” - Sheldon Solomon with Chris Rekatas - human enlivened by 'holding space' for other humans ![]() Using personal, meaningful 'objects' to explore: What is it to be human - for you? Objects have become a major part of human existence, especially in this day and age - where human also = consumer. This space is to take a look at objects in a different way - and get some objectivity - and in doing so, think about What is it to be human? We will be asking people to 'bring' objects of personal significance and describe not only the connection of these objects with the human underneath - but why this object has such meaning and personal significance to you as a human When: 8.15-10pm (UK time) Where: Zoom room What: Read more below... with Chris Rekatas - human enlivened by 'holding space' for other humans When I think of: What it is to be human - there's nothing more poignant about the human experience than these two words... Love and Loss. Each perhaps at opposite ends of an emotional spectrum - yet each intertwined, infinitely in the vast expanse and depths of the universe that is humanness and humanity.
This long article about: The Moments That Make Us Who We Are - From Loss to Love, shares some insight about why these two words - and most vivid shades of darkness and light of the human experience - are 'soul mates' so tethered together. Furthermore, how openness and immersion in one - can lead to enlightenment on the path to the other. This offering is about providing a space for humans to gather around experiences of love and loss - share in the powerful presence of other humans and open up to the possibilities of revealing our deepest human capacity and a chance to create compassion and meaning When: 1 May 2020 14.15 - 16.15 (UK time) Where: Zoom room > Limited to a maximum of 7 humans - to create an intimate space of trust and openness. If you would like to reserve a space - contact the human host here |
