Continuing a series of explorations that have looked at / are looking into Contrasts - What is it to be human? invites us into: fear > ? < hope An invitation into reflection, discovery and witnessing ourselves and others - around our hopes and fears.
Fear and hope are part of being human. How much of our being do we live in fear or hope? What impact do our hopes and fears - and our relationship to them - have on our lives?... Does this affect us hugely, not at all or some subtle in between?
If any of these questions resonate and you feel like joining this exploration... Let’s join together: As this space is being invited as a collaboration from one UK based initiative and one New Zealand based initiative, we've created two timings (12 hours apart) that we hope makes it more accessible to people in different time zones across the world Please also feel free to sign up to both times if you wish. We intend to keep numbers small to allow for a safe and intimate space to be held for exploring these themes - and ample opportunity for deeper sharing as people feel For those joining us from New Zealand - timings can be found below: New Zealand timings Wednesday 22nd November at 7.30-9.30pm Thursday 23rd November at 7.30-9.30am For other time zones - click on the times above to see what time it is in your part of the world Each session will last 2 hours - with the intention that the final 30 minutes of each will be held openly - to allow for some spacious reflection time and whatever sharing may want to arrive there and then. So... if you can only attend for the first 90 minutes - this will be fine too. We please ask that if signing up - that you come with the intention and willingness to commit at least 90 minutes of your time. This is not an obligation - rather a request to honour the space for yourself and others As well as the questions above - here are some things you could consider reflecting on before joining together
Pre-reflections… What are your impressions and expressions of fear and hope?... For example, this could be in the form of a story, some art, poetry, an experience, a question, a song, etc… Consider bringing these impressions and expressions with you into our time together. §~§ ...with fear, hope & love... 1st of May 2020 was our opening day full of a variety of experiences, with a gentle yet dedicated intention to explore this wonder-full question in different ways. It was more than we imagined – and continues to be a significant and fascinating exploration. Three years on, we are still curious and committed to hold space for this. The aspiration from the beginning was (and still is) to create a safe and kind space for BEING together. To be curious and to be accepting of ourselves and each other in our reflections, rumination and explorations. These invitations have always been intentional – to not put expectations on anyone to be anything other than ourselves in the moment. One of many precious insights that has emanated from this experience has been the value and power of presence How our humanness has been evident in many different and beautiful forms within the presence provided. By being seen and heard and by being given the space to 'be' We are so grateful for all of you who joined in creating these special spaces together So here's an invitation to Celebrate What is it to be human? To ponder these 3 years of existence, we are revisiting one of our fondest experiences of the recent times - 'Walking with'... of which we have had numerous over the years. For the celebratory walk, we are proposing to spend one hour immersed again in that same space that has been so precious - without expectations towards anyone or anything, simply walking together. We may choose to ask ourselves: What is it to be human? What is it to celebrate? or Simply be quiet, enjoy the walk and allow space for what emerges Let's join together on: Wednesday 24 May at 19:00 CEST [6pm UK time] (click above to see timing where you are and click below to register) You can register here to get a zoom link Choose where you would like to explore by walking, or if you prefer by sitting, in a place to be and connect. Headphones can help us hear each other better. Feel free also to arrange to walk with others in person as we connect virtually across locations.
If you can't make it on the day but would like to make the walk in your own space and time and would like to share your reflections with us - get in touch and we'll look to find a space to share those: [email protected] We return to continue to explore the perpetual question: What is it to be human? When: Saturday 12th November - (plus informal social gathering anytime between 13 - 16th) Where: Lisbon, Portugal - (venue to be confirmed) Join in: Contact us by email at: - [email protected] A chance to be together and co-create space for each other for: ... REFLECTIONS ... To look back, to look forward, to be present in this moment with whatever has value in our individual and collective being. As the seasonal colours change: ...in the north with the diminishing autumn and in the south with the emerging spring... We are inviting time in presence with the present - to really be with ourselves and with each other and sense into what emerges from within the power and awe of reflection What are the contrasts in your life?
How do they appear and feel? What is their significance? Last year we opened up this topic - which turned out to be a fascinating exploration. We will continue to discover about our contrasts on Thursday 5th May - 3.30-5.00pm (UK time) (UK time) Are you willing to open and share your contrasts? Feel like joining others to explore? To get joining information email: [email protected] Pre-reflection here Almost a year ago we went for a walk. We've been on a few since:
(Spring edition, Summer edition, Autumn/Winter edition) We will go again. Want to join us?... Thursday 7th April - 5:30-6.30pm (UK time) If you'd like to walk together - sign up here - to get the Zoom link. Walking with... What is it to be human? Spring is upon us again in the northern hemisphere, things start to open and prepare to blossom... Wherever you are, and in whatever season - consider taking time out for a walk. If you're asking why?... Well, one response may be why not? ; ) If you're still asking why - then here are some interesting things to read about walking: This time last year, many of us where deep in the isolations of lockdowns. Perhaps taking a walk now will feel quite different to then? How will it feel this time to explore our relation with nature, to seek inspiration from our environment: the buds, the blooms and birdsong. When we consciously engage in nature - we also have a unique environment to consider: What is it to be human? Hope to see you out walking! Darkness and Lightness
Hope and Fear Love and Loss Our experience of being human can be contrasting: Within ourselves, moment to moment, day to day, year to year - and also between humans. Life can feel quite different - and the way we relate to our contrasting experiences can have a huge impact on how we feel in life and show up in the world. By sharing your own contrasts - and listen to others share theirs... We would like to explore what is it to be human through these contrasts - to see what opens up... If you’d like to join click here to send us an email or send it manually to: [email protected] with the title < Contrasts > Exploring together - What is it to be human?... What is it to be human?
From summer to autumn - we have taken some time away (continuing to be human) - and arrive back here... Inviting a walk together - and what might emerge from that. In the northern hemisphere we found ourselves in autumn and heading towards winter. With this in mind - we will schedule the walk during the daytime at: 12.30-1.30pm UK time (click here for time where you are) on Friday 19th November. If you would like to join the walk - sign up to get the call in details here. For an idea of our two previous walks - see here: Spring edition Summer edition The last (and first) time we were ‘walking with - what is it to be human’ - there were some wonderful reflections…
This one in particular stayed within: “Being there' and 'being with' are much more important." That was spring (for us northern hemisphere human dwellers) - which has now turned to summer. So, three months on from our spring walk - we are inviting you to the summer edition: We will be taking a walk for 60 minutes on Thursday 15th July at 5.30pm (UK time) To show your interest in joining live and walking together - reply to [email protected] with the word walking in the subject title : )… Save the date in your diary and we’ll create a (zoom) link to connect us for the walk. Whether you find yourself in summer or winter, somewhere in between or nowhere specific… Being outside in nature is one way to connect with and enliven the human spirit. The joys of walking are something us humans have known throughout history: https://blog.oup.com/2020/02/five-philosophers-on-the-joys-of-walking/ So if you feel like walking together - to explore our relation with nature, to seek inspiration from our environment: the buds, the blooms, the birdsong... To share this experience with fellow humans as we walk and talk, or just listen and absorb the presence of other life forms. Join us! See you out walking… In a world brimming full of (and overflowing with) material trappings… where do we find space for the immaterial? How can we be with the essence of our human being?... our SOUL What is it to be human?... invites us into a 2-part exploration: soul 2 soul
You are welcome to take part in one or the other; both or neither. (More details below) |
